Cayo District of Belize. It is one of the most impressive caves in Central America.
Tour Description:
Day 1
In the morning a professional guide will pick you up at your hotel and take you to the Pook’s Hill Lodge in the Cayo District. Upon arriving or at lunchtime, you will be served a delicious lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will have a guided bird watching tour on miles of forest trails, river crossings and open landscape. Hummingbirds give a spectacular display at the veranda of the lodge and there are good sightings of trogons, motmots, toucans and many other forest species. Later that evening you will have a buffet dinner at Pook’s Hill.

Day 2
Early in the morning your professional guide will take you to on a two hours hike from Pook’s Hill Lodge to the Actun Tunichil Muknal cave. The cave system consists of a series of chambers, ending in a 300 by 50 meter Cathedral where sacrificial ceremonies once took place. Here you will be exposed to individuals that were sacrificed to the gods of the underworld. Visitors to this cave have the opportunity to travel into the Maya past and witness a living museum where the human sacrifices and artifacts can be viewed in their original context. Breakfast and lunch are included.
