1st Day: Arrival, Antigua
At your arrival in Guatemala city airport our driver will be waiting for you and will transfer to your hotel in Antigua. Overnight in Antigua.
2nd Day: Historical Antigua City Tour
Enjoy breakfast, then your guide will meet you for a city tour of Antigua. Enormous churches monasteries and colonial mansions from the 17/18th century line the city’s cobblestone streets. UNESCO declared Antigua patrimony to mankind. The guided tour also includes a visit to the music museum and the textile village. Lunch at a local restaurant in the heart of Antigua. After lunch rest of the afternoon at your leisure or walk the streets and visit the markets in search of handmade cloths, weavings and crafts. Dinner on your own. Overnight in Antigua.
3rd Day: Pacaya Volcano
A one and half hour hike brings us up to the active cone of Pacaya. There are not many places in the world where you can almost step on floating lava and have a spectacular look into the crater!! Climbing active Pacaya Volcano includes: All land transfers, box lunch, purified water, qualified bilingual guide and entrance fee to Pacaya National Park. Overnight in Antigua.
4th Day: Chichicastenango, Huehuetenango
Morning drive into the Altiplano (highlands) of Chichicastenango, home to one of the most spectacular markets in the Americas. Visit the largest traje (indigenous clothing) and typical (crafts) market in Central America and Santo Tomás Church, built in 1540. Here Indians practice their faith, blending Mayan and Catholic rituals. After lunch you will be transferred to Huehuetenango, located along the ridges of the Sierra de Los Cuchumatanes, the highest mountain chain of Central America. People are generally farmers, shepherds, or artisans who manufacture textiles, guitars, fireworks, pottery and baskets. Overnight at Hotel Casa Blanca.
5th Day: Todos Santos, Quetzaltenango
After breakfast, you will visit Todos Santos, a village of Maya-Mam origin perched atop the Cuchumatanes mountain range, about 50 kilometers from Huehuetenango. This charming village is steeped in tradition, and its inhabitants still follow the 260-day Mayan calendar, keeping their ancestral heritage alive.
After exploring Todos Santos, you will transfer to Quetzaltenango, better known as Xela. Today, Xela is Guatemala’s second-largest city, renowned for its industrial, cultural, and commercial importance. Despite its growth, the city has beautifully preserved its colonial architecture. Don’t miss the neo-classical buildings surrounding Centroamérica Park, which is considered the heart of the city and a vibrant hub of daily life.
You will overnight at the Pensión Bonifaz Hotel, a comfortable base for your stay in Xela.
6th Day: Almolonga, Cantel, Zunil
After breakfast, your day begins with a visit to Almolonga, just 5 km from Xela. This fertile valley is famous for its vibrant agriculture, with small parcels producing an impressive variety of fresh vegetables and fruits.
Next, head to Cantel, home to one of the oldest and largest textile factories in the country. Here, you can see traditional weaving techniques still in practice. Cantel also has a fascinating blown-glass factory, where you can watch artisans transform molten glass into beautiful, handcrafted pieces.
From there, continue to Zunil, a charming village nestled along the banks of the Salamá River. Its adobe houses with broken-slate roofs create a striking contrast against the surrounding mountains and the majestic Santa María Volcano.
After exploring these gems of the region, you will return to your hotel to relax and reflect on the day’s experiences.
7th Day: Fuentes Georginas, Lake Atitlán
These baths were built during the presidential period of General Ubico, and in his honor, they bear his name. The warm waters flow directly from the furnaces of the Cerro Quemado Volcano, creating a relaxing and unique experience.
After your visit, you will transfer to Panajachel, located on the stunning Lake Atitlán. You will have the afternoon and evening at leisure to explore the town, enjoy the lakeside views, or simply relax.
Tonight, you will overnight in Panajachel, which sits 5,000 feet above sea level, offering cool mountain air and breathtaking scenery.
8th Day: Boat ride Santiago Atitlán, Iximche, Guatemala City
Today, embark on a scenic boat excursion to Santiago, a charming Mayan village nestled on the shores of Lake Atitlán. As you cross the lake, marvel at the breathtaking views of the three majestic volcanoes—San Pedro, Tolimán, and Atitlán—rising dramatically from the water and dominating the landscape.
Once in Santiago, explore the village’s vibrant culture and discover its renowned textile craftsmanship. The intricate designs and vivid colors of the local fabrics make them truly exceptional. After enjoying a delightful lunch in the village, your journey continues toward Guatemala City.
Along the way, you will visit Iximché, an important historical site dating back to 1524. Surrounded by creeks and ravines, this ancient city offers a glimpse into Guatemala’s rich past, with well-preserved architectural structures that speak of its fascinating history.
Conclude your day with an overnight stay in Guatemala City, filled with memories of culture, history, and spectacular scenery.
9th Day: Copán
Begin your day with a morning departure for a scenic drive to Copán, nestled in the lush mountains of Honduras. This remarkable site is home to some of the best-preserved Mayan ruins in the world, hidden for centuries by the surrounding jungle.
Copán is famed for its intricate sculptures and the longest Mayan hieroglyphic text ever discovered, a treasure that has earned it recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Archaeologists continue to uncover incredible findings here, revealing more about the rich history and culture of the ancient Maya.
After a day of exploration, enjoy an overnight stay at Marina Copán, surrounded by the beauty and history of this extraordinary region.
10th Day: Río Dulce, Livingston
After breakfast, depart for one of Guatemala’s most stunning regions: the Río Dulce. Upon arrival, embark on a scenic boat ride to the charming Garifuna town of Livingston on the Caribbean coast, where vibrant culture and colorful traditions await.
Spend the night at Villa Caribe in Livingston, surrounded by the serene beauty of the river and the Caribbean Sea.
11th Day: Playa Blanca
Today, enjoy a boat excursion to the private paradise of Playa Blanca, passing by the stunning Waterfall of the Seven Altars along the way. Once there, relax on the pristine white sand, soak up the sun beneath swaying palm trees, and take a refreshing dip in the warm Caribbean waters.
A delicious box lunch on the beach is included, giving you plenty of time to savor the scenery and tranquility. In the afternoon, return by boat to your hotel, Villa Caribe, in Livingston for a restful evening.
12th Day: Río Dulce, Flores
Depart Livingston by boat and journey along the scenic Río Dulce to explore one of Central America’s most biodiverse natural reserves. During your guided tour, you’ll encounter hundreds of species of animals and lush vegetation, making for an unforgettable morning immersed in nature.
After your river adventure, continue to Río Dulce town, where you’ll transfer to Flores for an overnight stay in this charming lakeside area.
13th Day: Yaxhá
After breakfast, meet your guide for a journey to Yaxhá, once the third-largest city in the region and a thriving center during the Early Classic period (c. AD 250–600). Perched on a ridge overlooking Lake Yaxhá, the city offers breathtaking views and a glimpse into ancient Mayan life.
The name Yaxhá, meaning “blue-green water” in the Mayan language, is a remarkable example of a Classic-period place name that has survived to the present day. After exploring the ruins and learning about their fascinating history, enjoy lunch before returning to your hotel for a restful evening.
14th Day: Free day
Today is a leisure day to relax and unwind at your hotel. Take the time to enjoy the amenities, soak in the surroundings, or simply recharge at your own pace before continuing your journey.
15th Day: Tikal
In this remote region, one of the greatest civilizations of its time built the magnificent city of Tikal, a site that has endured for centuries. Set within a lush national park, the ruins are surrounded by thriving flora and fauna. Keep your eyes and ears open for the vibrant birds—from toucans to macaws—as well as spider and howler monkeys swinging through the dense jungle canopy.
After an immersive morning exploring this extraordinary archaeological treasure, enjoy lunch inside the park. In the afternoon, transfer to Flores Airport for a short flight back to Guatemala City, where you’ll be welcomed and transferred to your hotel for an evening of relaxation.
16th Day: Departure
Today, you will be transferred to the international airport for your journey back home, carrying with you memories of breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and vibrant cultures from your unforgettable trip through Guatemala and Honduras.
