With this Niños de Guatemala package you will have the opportunity to see the real Guatemala and will not leave a heavy foot print. Go where no other tourists go, learn about the culture, how the people in the small communities work, visit a wood shop and volunteer for a day in a school. All this while staying in a one of the best conserved and most impressive Colonial towns in the Americas. We are partnering with Niños de Guatemala for this package so tours start and end at Niños de Guatemala headquarters in Antigua.

Tour Program (6 Days / 5 Nights)

1st Day: Arrival in Guatemala, Overnight in Antigua
After your arrival in Guatemala City you will transfer to Antigua and check-in to your hotel. You will have the evening at leisure to explore this charming town. Established by Spanish Conquistadors in 1524, Antigua was Guatemala´s First Capital for over two centuries. Antigua enchants visitors with its narrow cobblestone streets, tree-shaded parks, and old colonial architecture. Overnight in Antigua and prepare to experience a different side of Guatemala.

2nd Day: Antigua Historic Walking Tour
Explore Antigua with a Local! First the tour will take you walking to Cerro de la Cruz, Antigua´s famous viewpoint. Here you will learn about the history of Antigua as capital of the Spanish government. After the visit you will walk back to Antigua to visit the most important places, like churches, ruins, monuments, the local market, central park and more. The tour starts and ends at Niños de Guatemala. Overnight in Antigua.

3rd Day: Worry Dolls, Woodwork and NDG School
In the morning you will head to the San Lorenzo el Cubo community and visit a family home. You will make a traditional worry doll, visit a local furniture/carpentry shop, and Niños de Guatemala´s El Porvenir school. You will have the opportunity to discover the every day life in Guatemala. With your guide, you will also catch a chicken bus, learn about everyday life while walking around San Lorenzo El Cubo. Visit Niños de Guatemala elementary school and see two important industries of the area: furniture woodwork and worry doll making. Overnight in Antigua.

4th Day: Volunteer for a day
Today you will have to opportunity to be a volunteer in one of the schools of Niños de Guatemala. You will discover the work the NGO does every day and the impact it has on the students and communities. And you will make a difference! With a member of the Volunteer Team, you will catch a chicken bus, learn about daily life while traveling to school, and be fully immersed in the NGO and its schools by volunteering in a classroom. You will be paired with a teacher and class to assist during the day. As volunteer you will assist with tasks beneficial to both the students and the teachers. After a morning of volunteering, you will be treated to a local lunch where a Volunteer Team will join you to reflect on your experience. Overnight in Antigua.

5th Day: Impact Coffee Workshop
This is a very different coffee tour - you will not go to the big coffee farm but to a woman-owned, small-batch coffee plantation in San Lorenzo el Cubo to learn about Guatemala´s coffee history, the coffee and chocolate producing processes. You will meet Carmen, the owner, who will guide you through the coffee process, from tree to cup. At Carmen´s house, you will also learn how to make traditional Guatemalan hot chocolate, a popular drink with a rich history. Overnight in Antigua.

6th Day: Departure Guatemala City
After your breakfast you will be transferred to Guatemala City Airport for your flight home. End of our services and your 6 day Guatemala itinerary. You can also add additional days to enjoy other parts of Guatemala.
